Hot damn. This is an EP of furious blackened death metal that doesn't hold anything back. The demented vocals alone are enough to send the neighbours packing, but throw in the aural musical assault and they'll probably just run in front of a speeding truck to put an end to it. Very heavy, brutal stuff here, sometimes war metal-ish but not quite as chaotic, there's crushing heaviness and speed aplenty to be found here. The guitars are razor-sharp and sound like they're cutting through the speakers and coming at you. Needless to say, the drums just pound away either at insane speed or slower but loud enough to make the walls shake. Some bands slow down to give you time to breathe, but the slowest parts here only serve to smash your head into the ground. No rest for the wicked. Scythes Towards Psyche is a massive barrage of furious, violent blackened death that may not break any new ground, but it falls into that "who cares when it's done so well" category. Only a demo and a split available from these guys so far, let's hope there's more where this came from. |
