I didn't initially realize Over and Out from Germany's Darkness was an EP with a couple of new songs, a cover and a couple of re-recorded tracks from earlier in their career. Serves me right for not reading the materials. If you're already a fan of this band's thrashy riffing and gravelly vocals, there isn't anything here that will put you off the bandwagon. The originals aren't anything special but the cover of Skid Row's "Slave to the Grind" is a song the band put their stamp on rather effectively and "Tinkerbell Must Die," recorded at a club in Japan, makes clear the energy this band plays with live. Darkness fans can safely grab a copy of Over and Out if they keep expectations modest. |
