Damn, this shit is fun. Final Assault have been making nice and friendly Crossover Thrash to punch your friends in the face to since 2010, and that hasn't changed in the slightest with their third and most recent album, III - Return to Moshkinville. They're still about emulating the Golden Age of the '80s, taking influences from noted acts like D.R.I., Nuclear Assault, Cro-Mags, Anthrax, and so forth, showing no interest in evolving or changing whatsoever. That's fine with me, because Crossover Thrash is all about being aggressive and energetic first and being innovative a non-existent second, and on songs like "P.D.A.F", "Headshot", and "Degenerate", that's exactly what they do as they invite you to get caught in a mosh pit for old times' sake. They still lean more on the Thrash than the Crossover, and even distinguish themselves a bit with their vocalist Jänö, who employs a very melodic style on "Abandon All" and "Resurgence of the Innocent" that's fairly uncommon in the style. Outside of that, this is just a little under 30 minutes of good-old-fashioned Crossover Thrash that takes an established formula and squeezes it for all it's worth, and when you're in the mood for inviting friends and family to drink a few beers and fight in the pit, what more could you ask for? |
