This is a remastered reissue on vinyl and cassette of the band's second album from 1996, Into the Ritual Chamber. Impurity is one of many Brazilian hidden underground gems and these guys play some crushing, dark and creepy black metal on this album. The pace is mostly slow with a near constant beat that you just nod along the entire time, making it kind of a relaxed listen in a way, though the eerie atmosphere does keep you on your guards. The vocals are strangely addictive here, a croaky rasp that just creeps you out. The guitars are my favourite part, a very heavy and sharp, ear-piercing style that really brings the metal to life on this album. Ritual Chamber is short at only 24 minutes, but it packs a lot of attitude and atmosphere to make up for that short running time. |
