Well, now this is fun mid-80s-style heavy metal, and unexpectedly out of Singapore, a country I know more for black and death metal. You know when you hear something and immediately think it's "some album you missed back in the day"? That's pretty much what Scene of the Wild sounds like. Their style is of the fun, kind of lighthearted metal back in the day that got everyone singing along, smiling and just having a good time and cheering when they heard a song come on the radio (because that kind of stuff did pop up on the radio at times, way back when). Lots of catchy chants, some good but not over-the-top guitar riffs and solos that call for you to dust off your air guitar and, if you like the bass guitar, it's actually a little predominant here and there. It's not original at all but, as I often say, when it's done this well, who gives a damn. It's fun, it's uplifting and will put you in a good mood on a bad day. One of those albums that sounds like the band hopped in a time machine. |
