It's amazing how much black/thrash metal is being cranked out these days. Children of Technology, who have been around for 13+ years, are from Italy and their album Written Destiny is another speedy assault of chainsaw riffs, balls-in-a-vice high notes and punk-fueled speed. Venom and early Slayer are clear influences with Araya-like screams and unhinged instrument abuse. "Warpainted Nightcreatures" and "Soundtrack of No Future" are two of the better cuts and I'm sure they will likely kill in a live setting. On the other hand, "Desert City" is hampered by an overly repetitious chorus and I was skipping it after a couple of listens. Overall, Written Destiny is a solid black/thrash record with enough loose aggressive playing to make any fan of early thrash break out the nail-studded arm-band and bullet belt. |
