Scythe Beast have been kicking around since 2012, but their sophomore album, Indicted for Misconception, is my first exposure to them. They claim to be Melodic Death/Thrash, and I suppose they are a bit thrashier than average but overall this is Melodic Death Metal that puts emphasis on the Melodic part first and foremost. That's not to say this is bad, as most of the melodic work on here is solid, and when they go into rolling, Dissection-esque riffing, it's much better than that. However, this has the problem that many albums in the genre face where the songwriting is less interesting than the performances by themselves, so even the songs with really killer shit kind of blend into the lesser tracks on here. I will say this album gets better as it goes along, with the title track being the first full song that I'd call enjoyable but, generally speaking, I can tell you more about parts of songs than I can the songs themselves, and by the last two tracks it all starts to drag really hard. Enjoyable enough, but nothing I'd go out of my way to recommend.
