These Swedes have been kicking out some very solid Melodic Death Metal/Thrash Metal since their formation in 1998 (well, except for the foul tip that was Death is not Dead). Mostly every album has been way above average and with Deathrace King, a complete and utter classic in the genre.

I will freely admit I was a little nervous when hearing the singles that were originally released to build hype for the album release. I was not all that impressed with "Motorbreath" and was shocked when I heard "We Drift On". Not that either song was terrible, but it did not exactly build excitement. Well, my fears were completely unfounded when the first strains of "Let the Hammering Begin!" kick in. THIS is the song I would have used as a single as it just pummels you into submission from beginning to end. From there you get "Motorbreath," which was the song I was not enamored with as a single, but in the album's context I seem to like it a lot more. This also happened when "We Drift On" (track 9) came on. It surprised me how much better these songs sounded within the confines of the complete album rather than how they sounded on their own. If nothing else, this album taught me a lesson not to judge the quality of an album by the singles that are released prior to full album release. That being said, I am still not a huge fan of the song "We Drift On"...lol Outside of these things there isn't really a lot to say about this album. It is exactly what you would expect from this band.

Overall, another solid release by The Crown that fans of the band will certainly appreciate and who knows, maybe they will get a few new fans through songs like "We Drift On".
