If you're looking for some no-nonsense, raw, speedy black/thrash/speed metal with a punkish edge, a hint of black 'n' roll and more heaviness than you can shake a stick at, look no further than this album. The sound here is pretty crude and even a little muffled at times, and that's a perfect fit for the aural onslaught that mixes a lot of first-wave black metal and early thrash with the speed of speed metal (duh) and the catchiness of black 'n' roll. Most parts here are insanely fast and borderline chaotic, though the band also flirts with slower and catchier melodic passages. Don't try to headbang to the fast stuff as your head will snap right off. The vocals are shouted and barked and, more often than not, undecipherable, and that's the perfect match for this raw and fast style of music. Infernal Power doesn't sound like any single band, but there are bits and pieces in here that remind me of Megiddo, Motörhead, Venom and the early insane thrash from the German school, but cranked to 11. |
