Unlike most of Aria's albums, it took me a little time to get into this one. Through All Times is not as catchy as most of their discography and not as memorable either. That doesn't mean it's not a good album, it's just one of those that albums that take some time to sink in. Most of the band's discography is based around very catchy, upbeat songs delivered with crunchy metal. This one is darker and melancholic and there's nothing especially headbangable on it. I don't mean that as a bad thing; it's just not that kind of album. It's a more relaxed listen than usual, the kind of album you put on when you want to kick back and reflect on life and stuff. It's beautiful music made by a band with no shortage of experience. With that said, there are a few passages here and there that crank it up a bit, especially when they go into a more Maiden style with the gallops and some bits reminiscent of the Seventh Son of a Seventh Son era. Through All Times asks for more work on the listener's part than most of the band's discography, and it's time well spent.
