I don't normally bother with EPs, but I have a soft spot for Necropanther. This is an indie release they put out after the hell-year of 2020, and it finds them exploring a much more melodic side than they have previously tapped. Overall, I find the songwriting on here a lot stronger than on previous efforts, integrating the heaviness and the melody much more clearly, and even vocalist Paul Anop has improved his delivery, adding a lot more urgency. These songs have a lot of identity, hooky melodies, and a ton of mood, which was not something I would have said about Necropanther before. A strong EP that I hope signals an evolution of this band. |
