Damn. No wonder Redefining Darkness Records say they became obsessed with this demo. First released in 2017, this is being reissued while the band is working on its first full-length album and, let me tell you, if they can fill an album with material similar with what's on here, it's going to be one for the end-of-year lists. This might be a demo, but it really sounds like a proper release. It's got a raw sound, yes, but that's what their style calls for. Fast, heavy and dark, this is a whirlwind of death metal goodness with razor-sharp, crunchy guitar work and some punishing pounding drums that nail this fucker to the ground. The sound is a little muddy in a good way, as it adds to the dark vibe of the album. There's some really fast stuff here, but also much slower and heavier passages that turn the evil up to 11 with a menacing yet catchy delivery. I liked this from the first few seconds and it just keeps getting better. Really looking forward to the debut album, but a warning to Disfuneral: my expectations are high! ;) |
