Finally, a band whose music really fits the term "speed metal." Witchseeker is out of Singapore and on their second album, Scene of the Wild, they play raucous metal at top speed and while that combination almost always means thrash, their songwriting is firmly traditional. The singer has a gravelly but not harsh voice and lets it all hang out on songs like "Lust for Dust", "Sin City" and "Screaming in the Moonlight." The image that kept popping into my head as I played Scene of the Wild (over and over) was of Blackie Lawless singing for Exciter while doing a set of Venom covers. This is bang your head, throw a fist in the air, brutalize the air guitar, downright fun music. Turn it up and annoy the neighbors. |
