Review

I got this album a very long time ago and didn't like it much. It was time to revisit it and, well, I still don't like it much, but there's definitely some good stuff on here. The backbone sound of U.D.O. is definitely taking shape, basically Accept with more melody, but a lot of it sounds like what a lot of metal bands did in the second half the '80s when they didn't turn outright glam: they mellowed down a lot. So the album is a blend of almost radio-friendly metal and the harder-hitting, more metallic U.D.O. sound. Strangely, despite this, the album is not that memorable, except maybe for "Living on a Frontline" which I swear sounds like it's straight out of an AC/DC album (I had to check if it wasn't a cover or something). Needless to say, this one rocks. Faceless World contains a lot of good stuff, but as an album I find it comes off kind of dull, a feeling I had way back when I bought it and it still persists to this day. There's still enough good stuff on here to make it worth checking out, but by now the band has a lot of much better albums you should check out first.
