Fucking finally. It's been nine years since Rise, Vulcan Spectre, and Nekromantheon have been largely silent in all that time. I was wondering if we would ever hear them thrash again, and how well they would do it if they returned. I should not have been worried about that.

The great thing about this band is that despite how dirty and aggressive their sound gets, they stay definitively Thrash. These days a pure Thrash band with this kind of energy is a rarity, and so many bands cross-pollinate with Death or Black Metal, sliding off in one direction or another. But Nekromantheon are all Thrash, with crunching, chugging riffs and relentless speed. The vocals are also pure Thrash, without growling or screaming or shrieking—just furious and aggressive and yet clear. This is a short album—as always with this band—but it kills the whole way through.
