I didn't care for the first Timeless Haunt release I heard (the EP Haunted Symphony) but this one is hitting me more favorably. The riffing is better and a like the guitar tone and while the vocals are still occasionally grating, Timeless Haunt has written songs that better accommodate them. The album has a creepy and unsettling atmosphere, thanks to those vocals and some strategic keyboards and at times I could picture a cobweb-covered castle with a classic movie villain sitting at an old pipe organ. Some of the songs in the middle are similar to one another, not bad, but not anything too exciting, however "Embrace the Haunt" really shows what these guys can do with a good song. They wrap the album up with an excellent cover of Chris Issak's "Wicked Games," capturing the haunting and ethereal sound of the song. I know it's pop, but a good song is a good song, and this one fits Dark for Life's atmosphere quite well. I'm not completely sold on Timeless Haunt, there aren't enough really good songs on Dark for Life to make it a repeat listen for me, but they are definitely moving in a direction that I like.
