Visions of Trismegistos is the third album from Nekromantheon and the second one I've reviewed, after their debut. When I listen to this album, I hear a hellish mix of early Slayer guitar torture and Sacred Reich shouted vocals. This band is all-in and plays with fury and abandon, making it is hard not to get swept up in the naked energy of the performances. I don't find the songwriting all that distinctive and one song sounds much like the other to my ears but that did little to dampen the foot-tapping and air guitar as this is a short release at just over 32 minutes and it has no time to wear out its welcome. I'd like to hear a few more hooks, but that's just me. If you are up for some savage thrash, Nekromantheon has you covered. |
