Yet another brutal onslaught from the brutally named Drawn and Quartered. These guys are pretty consistent. No gimmicks, no bullshit death metal is what you get with this band. It's heavy, fast and so packed that everything sounds unintelligible unless you pay attention: It's a freakin' barrage of unrelenting death metal. You don't get any breaks here: it starts with all guns blazing and that doesn't end until the album is over. As with their previous stuff, it's "busy" stuff, lots going on here, and as such requires multiple listens to really appreciate all of its intricacies. Not for the faint of heart, Congregation Silence is a brutal death album that will keep you busy while you peel off all of its layers and repeatedly get run over by a long, heavy freight train while doing so. |
