You know, with all the Traditional Metal bands looking to be the next Eternal Champion popping up all over the U.S., sometimes it's nice to find a band that just wants to rock the fuck out. Pulverazor do just that on their debut single, flinging out a nasty bit of NWOBHM-styled Metal with whacked-out high-pitched vocals, killer guitar work, and tons of rocking energy to go with their goofy, B-movie aesthetic. The title track is the more rocking of the two, with ridiculous lyrics and infectious vocal lines, but "Heavy is the Hammer" is a more traditionally Metal tune with blazing riffs and a barn-burning chorus, and both could incite a mosh pit in a live setting with ease. There's not more to it than that, but that's the beauty of this band: no frills, no experimentation, just the hunger to bang out fun, heavy music that sounds like it came from someone's garage in the '80s. A short release, but a damn fun one. |
