Normally I would not have much interest in this kind of doomy rock/metal, except this band features the talents of Victor Arduini, of the original Fates Warning lineup. Originally more of a stoner band, this outfit has evolved into a very stripped down, basic Heavy Metal band. Overall, the riffs are simplistic and not very inspired, bassist/vocalist Chris Taylor (also of Night Bitch) has an undistinguished voice, even if he is trying hard. The one real bright spot here is the lead work—presumably Arduini's contribution, though it doesn't say—which is sometimes brilliant and lifts this out of the bog-standard groove this band mostly sticks with. Even a cover of "Call for the Priest" can't really get this thing going. Entierro are headed in the right direction, but they haven't gotten anywhere interesting yet. |
