Review

Solid is a typical U.D.O. album that doesn't really try to break any new grounds. It's very safe, a little too much for its own good. There are some cool songs like opener "Independence Day" which is arguably the strongest song on the album, but closer "The Healer" bores me to tears and real kind of kills the experience, making you forget the good moments of the album. As can be expected from U.D.O., the album has the Accept influences but with U.D.O.'s better knack for melodies, and it's a little on the mellow side. It's not an album I want to turn off while it's on, as it has its moments, but when thinking of the band's large discography, this is nowhere near the first one I reach out for.
