This is a much-hyped collaboration between Udo Dirkschneider (I'd say of Accept fame, but by now the output from his band U.D.O. should have outshined that, really) and some former and current members of Accept and U.D.O. as well as female singer Manuela Bibert. I'm not big on name-dropping in reviews, but let's just say the ensemble is pretty fucking solid. This is very much in the vein of U.D.O.'s work if you were to add female vocals to it. Very melodic, but hard, heavy and catchy heavy metal with a solid foot in the old school while not sounding too much like it belongs to another era (not that I've ever had a problem with that, mind you... ;)) So, nothing surprising here, but if you're looking for a quick fix (15 minutes) of U.D.O.-style heavy metal with a twist, this is pretty cool. I must add that Manuela's vocals are top-notch and brings a whole new dimension to this material. I'm not sure where they're going with this, but a full-length would be cool. |
