Hellstrike, the debut EP from a new entity by the name of Hell Strike, is standard black/death metal, taking the sharp, aggressive riffing from death metal and adding haunting blackened croaks across its 24-minute length. I'd love to tell you something unique about what Hell Strike is doing, but they are safely coloring within the lines, though doing so competently. Their music has evil atmosphere and naked power, but so do a lot of other bands playing black/death. If that style is your raison d'être, by all means check out Hellstrike, perhaps there are nuances lost on these less sophisticated ears.
