Dragon's Kiss is kind of a cheesy name, but this Portuguese band doesn't seem to care much as they crank out dirty, rocking metal on their album Barbarians of the Wasteland. The production brings the guitars out front in a way the smashes you in the face with riff after riff. The vocals are courtesy of Savage Master's Adam Neal but here he employs a monotonous shout that gets old quickly. Motörhead would be a good reference point to start with, but even Lemmy knew you had to vary your singing a little bit. Barbarians of the Wasteland is in desperate need of some better vocal lines and might have been more interesting if it had them. As it stands, this is not much more than bar music that is hard to recall the next day. They have a new EP scheduled for October 2021, hopefully it is a step up from Barbarians of the Wasteland. |
