This is a Russian band who have been very productive, cranking out four full-lengths in about three years. This is their latest, and if you need a guide to how it sounds, that would be: Wolves in the Throne Room. This is very reminiscent of Two Hunters-era WitTR, with the dense, Cascadian riffage and the extended atmospheric interlude of the second track, "Adrift". The songs are long, ranging up to 20 minutes, and they are filled with the same kinds of involved, layered melodies you get from that Cascadian sound. This band won't get points for originality, but they do what they do well. |
