The Broken Seal, Lvcifyre's third album, is another slab of pure malevolence, it's 43+ minutes going by in an absolute blur of hate-filled black/death vocals and walls of musical brutality. There are melodies but there is nothing remotely "melodic" about the way Lvcifyre attack their music. The result is that even after several listens, I can't tell one song from the next. They probably are different, but there's little to no intelligible singing and the instruments are so loud that the mixing board at SPVN Studio where this was recorded probably still has needles in the red from the leftover sustain. If you want sonic savagery but don't like the arctic chill of true black metal, put on The Broken Seal and prepare for hell. |
