Weaponized are a 5-piece from California that are all about bashing out some classic Crossover Thrash in the same vein as Nuclear Assault and D.R.I. I could probably stop there, as their self-titled debut is in no way interested in being innovative or even professional. Nope, it just wants to bang out a bunch of songs that are nothing more than short, entertaining outbursts of good 'n' friendly violence that'll start up a mosh pit in your living room, and it hits that mark like a brick to the face. True, the songs are lacking in solos and the production isn't the sharpest out there, but the riffs are solid, the playing as old school as you can get, and the vocals of Johnny Salas are the expected but well-executed Crossover shout, and when you have that coming together to spin out grin-inducing songs like "Grave Escape" and "Ghost in My Room", what more could you ask for? Recommended. |
