Sixth album from this long-running Aussie band. Been over a decade since I checked in with them, and I find their second-wave sound essentially unchanged, but perhaps a bit more mellow than it used to be. Everything here is just a bit less aggressive than I would like, with a smooth, rounded guitar sound and a production that kind of blends everything into a sound that is sometimes what I would call soothing. I like this album, and there are a lot of good melodies on here, but it lacks the murderous feel of their old stuff, and is a definite step back from how killer they used to be. |
