Review

Drudkh have a bit of a rocky track record, at least based on the reviews here as I have not heard all of their material—and on top of that, it's been a while. They Often See Dreams About the Spring is definitely up my alley, a raw and sometimes savage atmospheric black metal (in large part due to some visceral and otherworldly vocal work) that's filled with haunting and sometimes sorrowful melodies, the kind of stuff that these Ukrainians were originally known for. The somewhat crude sound gives the songs a lot of punch and even the quietest parts make their marks. If you like atmospheric black metal but also want things more on the raw side, this is what the doctor ordered.
