Duskmourn are back with their third full-length, and it is even better than their last. This band draws in a lot of influences, sounds like bits of bands like Falkenbach, Moonsorrow, Ensiferum and Forefather all mixed into a melodic, epic style that sounds folk-inflected without actually featuring any folk sounds. On previous albums this band tended to drag in places, but this album is much more spirited, and never just lies back. The riffs are really strong, the production is class, and the songwriting as a whole is really consistent. The album is strong all the way through and creates a really strong mood. A really good album of aggressive pagan metal. |
