Helslave hail from Rome, Italy, but with their second album, you could convince anyone they're from Sweden and likely get away with it. If you heard any Swedish Death Metal from the '90s like Carnage, Dismember, or even Nirvana 2002, then you know exactly what to expect with this release. Of course, the real question is whether or not the band is any good at it, and Helslave hit that mark with downtuned buzzsaw riffs, brutal intensity, and uncompromising conviction as they ride that old '90s bandwagon to run it over your skull. Not an original idea to be found here, but it's a fun time. |
