This is fun. I grabbed this promo largely because I thought I had too much black, death and thrash in my queue and, well, sometimes you just need something a little lighter. This is very upbeat and catchy power metal with female vocals sung by a duo, to great effect. I’m reminded a lot of Italy’s Frozen Crown when listening to this (one of the founders, along with the two female vocalists, is Frederico Mondelli of Frozen Crown), though the vocals are often much more melodic and softer and, without taking anything away from Jade in Frozen Crown, this is better in terms of vocals. I think I can safely call this "easy-listening power metal" as the music is overall very accessible yet maintains enough of a hard edge to satisfy most power metallers out there. If you’re looking for something that rocks, yet also packs in some soothing and relaxing moments, then Daughters of the Night might just be what you’re looking for. |
