Paganfire are a 4-piece Thrash act from the Philippines, of all places, and they have remained a highly active band since their beginnings in 2004, with a landslide of EPs, demos, splits, live albums, and videos greatly outnumbering their sole full-length from 8 years ago. Guess that productivity kept them sharp, because their latest EP, Of Deathblades and Bloodsoaked Paths..., kicks some serious ass.
Say I was to take the wrathful, slightly blackened approach of early Kreator and Slayer and throw in some vicious Floridian Death/Thrash like Hellwitch or Amon (pre-Deicide). That’s Paganfire in a nutshell, and they’re every bit as frenzied, violent, and energetic as that would imply. They may not be the tightest players you’ll ever hear, but who needs that book learning shit when you can stomp assholes into paste with tracks like the Slayer-esque "The Executor" or the raging, mildly punky assault of "Karumaldumal! Kasuklamsuklam!"? Evil, straightforward riffs, lightning-fast solos, and a relentless attitude and hunger that you can only call Thrash make this a worthy entry for a storied band. Killer shit right here.
