San Jose’s Kill Ritual used their time off during the global pandemic, when touring in support of their fifth album, The Opaque and the Divine, was not an option, to instead record some new music for their fans. The sound on Thy Will Be Done delves further into the power/thrash sound Kill Ritual had been trending toward and includes what should have been the title track to the last album but was left off. It is a more affair with a down-tuned sound and lots of big, beefy riffs. There’s a sort of Bruce Dickinson solo era similarity on "The Opaque and the Divine" with vocal lines Bruce himself has probably uttered himself at some point. The rest of the songs went by me in an aggressive blur every time I listened to Thy Will Be Done. It’s fine music while it’s on, but I don’t recall much afterward despite the short running time. Cheers to Kill Ritual for giving the fans new music, I just wish it had been as good as the last album. |
