This is pretty low-key old-school heavy metal. There’s nothing here that made me go "wow" as the entire album is kind of monotone – not in a bad way – and it just chugs along with a deep sound that’s kind of entrancing. Very melodic and dark while being quite catchy at times, Polluted Temples strikes me as an unremarkable album that nevertheless draws me in every time. Yep, I know that doesn’t make much sense, but it is what it is. There’s a bit of a ‘70s dark heavy rock vibe throughout that tends to stick in your head once the album is over. I found it to be a good rocker when you’re in the mood for good, darkish music that doesn’t bring you down too much. Lots of memorable bits here and there, nothing extravagant, just good music that works just as well as background music as it does a more attentive listening session. |
