The Demos is a compilation of tracks from the ‘80s, more like 1987 when the band was starting. As can be expected, despite some remastering the songs can come off kind of crude and, for the most part, the result is a bit endearing though I found some songs should probably have been left out, most of the time because some vocal lines are just tiring, such as on "Prophet" (I could help but think I was hearing "Boba Fett" instead of "Pro-o-phet", so I think I need to ease up on Star Wars). A bunch of stuff I’m sure was fixed when the band fine-tuned their skills and went into proper studio recording. In terms of thrash, this is not particularly "extreme" even for the time, but there’s that amateurish, DIY vibe that gives the whole thing some attitude and make the compilation overall quite listenable. |
