Review

It's been 13 years already since my first and only exposure to this band (let's go with "so many bands, so little time.") Without looking back, I was again expecting straight-up death metal, but this is more along the lines of Swedish melodic death metal, albeit playing it a little harder — meaning closer to actual death metal — than bands playing the Gothenburg sound usually do. The overall atmosphere of the album is kind of a downer, a little sad and melancholic, which may or may not be what the listener is looking for in an album of the genre. The vocals are the expected growls and decipherable enough. There are a lot of cool guitar parts, though there are also a lot of groovy parts that kind of cheapen the experience–your mileage may vary. It's listenable, though probably not an album I'll feel the urge to pick up again.
