Debut album from this Dutch duo, and I am not even sure how I got it. It is pretty obscure, and the band isn't even listed on Metal-Archives yet. This is an engaging album of rather melancholic, slightly doomy Black Metal. There is a definite kinship with similar epic bands like Moonsorrow or Windfaerer, and the songs are long and sometimes complex, with a ton of atmosphere and feel to them. The playing wrings out a lot of cool riffs and haunting melodies, and while the vocals are just kind of standard, they get the job done. This is one band that could really benefit from pushing the boundaries vocally, with some ethereal singing or some choirs. A strong debut from a band worth watching. |
