Neoheresy is a one-man band that used to be called Hellveto, and they put out 15 full-length albums under that name before changing to Neoheresy in 2014 and continuing in pretty much the same vein. This is the sixth album sole bandmember LON has put out under the new name, and the style has not really changed much. Hellveto was more primitive-sounding and organic, while Neoheresy has a more artificial, almost industrial sound at times. Overall, I find this a little too cleaned up and lacking in real songwriting heft. LON used to carry things along with a lot of good melodies and atmosphere, but this one sounds a bit rote, with a thin recording job that just feels lacking in passion. Listenable, but I know this guy can do better, because I have heard him do it. |
