I enjoyed this band's debut EP, despite some flaws, and I like this one too, as it improves on the original in every way except length. This seems to be one of those bands that is addicted to EPs, and who knows if we will ever be graced with a proper album. Still, better a slew of good EPs than a bad album. No change in style, as Cobra Spell are still all about sleazy hard rock spliced with classic '80s metal to produce a sound close to old-school acts like Twisted Sister or Mötley Crüe on their early albums. The production is miles better on this one, with more oomph in the guitar sound and the vocals not buried in triple-tracking, so you can hear that singer Alexx Panza is actually pretty good. There are only four songs on here, as with the debut, but they are all solid, with no weak spots. If you like stuff like Angus, WASP, or Krokus, then Cobra Spell are doing a good job of conjuring up those days. |
