Debut of this new band from Ukraine, made up of a few guys who used to be in Nokturnal Mortum plus a few veterans of bands like Mutanter and Horrorgod. It's pretty easy to see where this band draws most of its inspirations, as the title and cover art (I think that's by Dan Seagrave, but it could just be an imitation) are directly trying to evoke classic Entombed. This band's sound seems to be more about Clandestine than Left Hand Path, though the guitar sound lacks that buzzsaw edge to really nail down the homage, but the songwriting is pretty fucking good. This is an Osmose record, and sounds like it, with less emphasis on the guitars and more attention paid to the rhythm section, but if that means the rhythm section is doing something cool, then I am fine with that. Not nearly as chaotic and violent as, say, Angelcorpse or Diocletian, this still has a lot of feral energy and promise for the future for this band, provided they can survive the invasion. |
