Mirror have been putting out albums on labels like Metal Blade and Cruz del Sur for the last 7 years and nobody much has noticed. I certainly didn't. This is old-fashioned chugging Trad Metal without any frills, and this kind of thing is a hard sell, because you just have to kick ass—there's no gimmicks to save you. This band seems to have been put together by Cypriot vocalist Jimmy Mavrommatis, who has a lot of enthusiasm, even if he is not technically that great of a singer. This is all just metal to the bone, with a debt owed to bands like Battle Ram and Brocas Helm. Is it original, or really great? No. Is it a solid fucking album of metal riffs and wailing? Yes. |
