This is a much shorter book than the other stuff Dayal Patterson has been publishing, though it is labelled a companion to Evolution of the Cult. Format-wise, this is very similar to many of the pro-printed fanzines out there, both in terms of page size and number of pages. This contains a bunch of very interesting interviews, some of which dating back to 2004 when he first published his fanzine, some never published for a number of reasons and some newer ones. There's a warning about the content of some of the interviews as some of the bands interviewed hold somewhat controversial views on a number of subjects. His take on it is that his readers should be intelligent enough to deal with it as he remains neutral and doesn't try to censor. Lots of good stuff here from Mayhem, Beherit, Archgoat, Skitliv, Hades Almighty, Gorgoroth, Marduk, Impaled Nazarene, Sigh, Enthroned and Taake. Just like in The Cult Never Dies-Volume One, these are all bands I've read countless interviews with and yet here again Mr. Patterson found a way to squeeze out more information about the bands. Really good stuff and a quick read at just over 60 pages. |
