Fifth album by this very prolific one-man band that has only been around for a few years. Usually these kinds of solo projects are Black Metal, but this is instead Doom/Death of a surprisingly high quality. Highly melodic, this reminds me musically of bands like Swallow the Sun, Funeral, or Draconian. There are some gorgeous riffs on this thing, as well as a satisfying amount of heaviness. The vocals are a deep-throated bellow that gets the job done, but is kind of one-dimensional, especially when compared to the textured, involved guitar work. Overall, I find this a highly gratifying album of Doom Metal. |
