A short and sweet little split from two black metal veterans here, maybe a little too short, but that comes with the territory with a 7". "The Mystic Papyrous" by Varathron was apparently written in 1993 and reworked in 2016, and this is what we get here. Total Greek black metal here, it's audible practically from the start. It's a little raw and packs a lot of punch while being quite melodic and, frankly, it got stuck in my head right after the first listen and I found it quite addictive. Ungod's "Sinister Form of Fallen" is more recent, written in 2021, and is more brutal and has a rather hateful vibe, courtesy of the vocals that are up front and run the show. It's not catchy like the Varathron track and is more straightforward, but it fits the split well anyway. Fans of either band will want to snatch this up as the songs are both exclusive to this split and they both have a lot of replay value.
