It didn’t take long for Entombed to steer clear from the sound of their early landmark albums and go into a more rock direction, something that was strangely common for Scandinavian death metal bands back in those days. This is one of those albums, where Entombed present what I guess can loosely be called death ‘n’ roll, though there isn’t all that much "death" in it and it’s kind of bluesy at times, too. There’s quite a bit of an old-school rock vibe as well as just plain heavy metal and that makes it tolerable, but really this is one of those albums that should have been released under another name. It’s not bad, just don’t go expecting much metal out of this, but those who like their rock abrasive and don’t mind something much heavier and with the occasional deathy cuts could find something to like here. |
