Destral is a Spanish band and the 3-song EP Fembres pecadrius is their second release. They play straight up heavy metal firmly rooted in the Iron Maiden mold with maybe a touch of Helloween to some of the vocal lines. Each of the songs is sufficiently heavy and chugging, and the singer, who doesn’t have the beefiest voice, gets the job done. There’s nothing on here that is new but, overall, the music is entertaining in an early ‘80s kind of way. If other bands that at least occasionally sing in Spanish and play trad metal like Muro, Voltax, Split Heaven, etc. get it done for you, you’ll want to keep an eye on Destral. Even though they aren’t shaking the world yet, there is potential. |
