This is a Greek Black Metal band that doesn’t really sound like one. The riffing is harder and more Trad Metal in style, recalling more epic stuff like Mortuary Drape or Macabre Omen, while the sense of melody has a melancholy that definitely brings Dissection to mind, and I am sure it is supposed to. The recording is nicely raw, with a blaring guitar sound that doesn’t forget the mid-range and a lot of heaviness rather than just relentless tremolo picking. Most of these songs are long, slower-paced, and pack a lot of variety into their running times. This is an album that never gets boring because, even on the 11-minute title track, the band never stops doing new things. |
