Surprised I never heard of this band before, as they are very polished, and this is their second album. Fronted by the powerful vocals of Tina Gunnarson and backed up with glossy, heavy riffs, this is definitely in the same vein as bands like Divine Ascension, Triosphere, or even Unleash the Archers. There is a touch of prog to the songwriting here, but just a bit in the complex rhythms and very sharp playing. Here and there the band dabbles in some harsh vocals, and I wish they had left them out, as they don’t really fit in. This is produced very well, and presents a big, booming sound that grabs your attention, but the songwriting does not have quite the substance it seems to on first listen, and a certain sameyness creeps into the songs as the album goes on. Still, this is a very strong album that promises good things to come from this band if they keep at it. |
