This appears to be a re-recording of this band’s little-heard 2009 release Killing for Pleasure, though that disc had two more tracks than this one and a different track order. Death Scythe are a Melodic Death Metal band who will make you remember why we liked the style to begin with, before it became stale and overdone. This is heavy, aggressive metal with blazing melodic leads and memorable riffing that will get your neck snapping. There are inevitable similarities to the big bands of the genre, but I have to say a band this really reminds me of is The Fifth Sun—an absolutely amazing band who almost no one has heard of, and who have been missing for like 18 years, so just take my word for it. This is a feral, headbanging album you should not miss. |
